Big Data is slowly taking on an increasingly important position within society. A growing number of organisations are actively focusing on the collection of data in order to use it for various purposes. Commit2Data was founded to support to stimulate organizations from different domains to collaborate in collecting data intelligently and using it correctly for innovative purposes. Commit2Data is a multi-year national research and innovation programme based on public-private partnerships (PPP), aimed at cross-sectoral collaboration on big data issues. By bringing together science and business, Commit2Data offers an excellent opportunity to discover new business models and opportunities.

The Commit2Data project has reached an important milestone by welcoming its 200th private partner. This partner is now working with research institutions and public partners to improve data research. Since the start of this PPP, 83 PhD's and 57 Postdocs have been working alongside engineers and programmers.

Chairman of Commit2Data project Prof.dr.ir. Boudewijn R. Haverkort on achieving the milestone: "We are very proud of how the Commit2Data programme has developed, especially the large number of private parties that are participating. We can see that a large number of private parties are also reflected in the way in which the research questions are formulated, highly driven by practical questions. In the coming years, we will therefore focus on stimulating the practical application of the research results with the help of our recently set up Commit2Data valorisation programme."
